I'm starting to keep up with the blogs of more and more people these days, so I figure that it's time I get some help keeping track of all of them. I've put ColdFusionBloggers.org on my bookmarks toolbar, and while it's a great aggregator (props to Ray!) I keep wondering whether I've missed anything that's fallen off the short list it creates. I think maybe I ought to use a reader that will help me track a large number of blogs and mark whether or not I've read any given posting. What does everybody else prefer to use? Google Reader? FeedDemon? How exactly do you use them to keep up with the massive number of good posts out there?

I use Google as my start page. Just visit http://www.google.com/ig and customize, then set that as your start page.

Joshua, thanks for your suggestion. How exactly does the Google customized homepage help you manage your blog subscriptions?

+1 for Google Reader as I prefer having everything ready to read between work / home.
Also, I used to pay for FeedDemon. If you're interested in it is now free! This happened recently within the past 2 weeks.

I use Google Reader, I have used desktop apps in the past. I like GR as it checks for updates even if I am not online. With some of the keyboard shortcuts I can go through 50-100 posts in 10 min. You can star the ones you want to read or save for later (I open them in a new tab then read it or save it to del.icio.us (FireFox plugin) you can create folders for different types of blogs then read them as a group or just look at the blogs you want. Google also has a nice iPhone/iPod Touch version. The only thing I would add is a filter for duplicate entries, i.e. if you subscribe to cfbloggers and allyourflexbelongtous you get the same post in both for some blogs.

+1 for Google Reader as well. Besides what's already been mentioned, it also has a pretty nice offline mode (using Google Gears) so you can download and read while you are on the train/plane, then sync back up later.
