This phone book is a great way to embed a great amount of information in a page yet only show small pieces of it at a time in limited space. It is simply a form without a submit button of any kind which shows a list of names; when a name on the list is selected, other information about that person is written in the rest of the form. This phone book could easily call up an email form to contact a selected person, or it could also call a CGI script to pull more information from, for instance, an employee database.

For this function, a set of names and their corresponding phone numbers is coded as a JavaScript array. The array is used to populate the scrolling menu, and to populate the other form elements when one of the names in the scrolling menu is selected.
